Washington Township, Pa. – Multiple fire crews responded to a barn fire at 108 Townsend Drive just before 2:00 pm Saturday afternoon.
The barn was filled with over 8,000 bales of hay according to the farm owner. By the time fire crews arrived on scene, the fire already had a head start and quickly became fully involved with flame. Heavy winds in the area accelerated the progression of the fire that quickly became an exterior attack only.
Due to the rural area and a lack of fire hydrants, a tanker brigade was immediately established where water was dumped into a tank and pumped to the fire scene down a long driveway. The cause of the fire is undetermined as of 5:00 pm Saturday afternoon. There were no report of injuries.
